Concentration — the sixth limb of Patañjali's aṣṭāṅga yoga. Dhāraṇā is the sustained, single-pointed focusing of the mind on a single object, mantra, or sensation. It is not effortful attention but the natural result of a mind that has been sufficiently stilled by prāṇāyāma and ethical preparation. In the KALKI system, dhāraṇā is the precision instrument of pattern recognition.
