Bahya Kumbhaka
बाह्य कुम्भक
/BAH-hyah koom-BHAH-kah/Prāṇāyāmajal tier practice
External breath retention — holding the breath after exhalation, with the lungs empty. This is the most advanced form of kumbhaka, requiring significant prāṇic capacity. Bahya kumbhaka produces a deep parasympathetic state that allows access to unconscious pattern material.
